Double Olympic champion Mariana Pajón took another step towards qualifying for Tokyo 2020 after claiming her second consecutive victory at the International Cycling Union BMX Supercross World Cup in Bogotá.

Pajón, gold medallist at London 2012 and Rio 2016, clinched back-to-back wins at her home World Cup to boost her chances of booking a place at the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Colombian star won the second of two rounds in the capital city in a time of 36.244sec.

Payton Ridenour of the United States recorded her maiden World Cup podium after finishing second in 37.400, while bronze went to Russia's Natalia Afremova in 37.744.

"I really wanted to return because I got injured a year before then pandemic hit," Pajón told Olympic Channel.

"I really wanted to be racing that's all I want - to be here, to feel that adrenaline and I am happy to have this race and having this race in Colombia is more special."

Joris Daudet of France also earned his second straight win in the Colombian capital, adding to yesterday's victory by taking gold in the men's race in 32.663.

Daudet finished clear of Colombian Olympic bronze medallist Carlos Alberto Ramirez Yepes, who secured silver in 33.358.

Arthur Pilar, also of France, did enough for bronze having crossed the line in 33.585.
