The Turkish gymnast had topped qualification yesterday at the National Gymnastics Arena in Azerbaijan’s capital city.

Onbasi, Bulgaria’s Darina Pashova and Russian Gymnastics Federation’s Daria Tikhonova finished level at the top of the standings in the final.

The three gymnasts scored 21.850.

The gymnasts were separated by their execution score, with Onbasi edging her rivals with a score of 9.000.

Pashova’s execution score of 8.800 was enough to claim silver, while Tikhonova won bronze on 8.750.

Tikhonova is representing the Russian Gymnastics Federation, under the terms of the Court of Arbitration for Sport decision in the Russian Anti-Doping Agency case.

Pashova would add trios gold to her individual silver.

She joined forces with Antonio Papazov and Tihomir Barotev to win the trios event, with the Bulgarian gymnasts heading the standings on 22.877.

Hungary’s Daniel Bali, Fanni Mazacs and Balazs Farkas were the silver medallists on 22.616, with Teodora Cucu, Daniel Tavoc and David Gavrilovici of Romania winning bronze with 22.427.

Only three teams contested the aerobic step competition, with the Russian Gymnastics Federation topping the standings.

Their team of Irina Dobriagina, Aleksei Germanov, Aleksandra Chernousova, Anastasia Dmitrieva, Polina Golubeva, Anastasiia Gvozdetskaia, Elizaveta Pelevina and Mariia Tereshina won the event with a score of 17.700.

Ukraine finished as the silver medallists on 17.200, with Italy finishing third on 17.100.

Qualification took place in four other events, with Russian Gymnastics Federation’s Roman Semenov leading the way in the men’s individual event on 22.050.

Spain’s Miquel Mane and Brazil’s Lucas Barbosa both scored 21.750 to complete the top three qualifiers for tomorrow’s final.

The mixed pair qualification saw Italy’s Michela Castoldi and David Donati head the standings.

Hosts Azerbaijan led aerobic dance qualification, while Romania top scored in the groups event.

The four final events will conclude tomorrow.
