Women’s top seed Nour El Sherbini of Egypt held off a fightback from compatriot Hania El Hammamy to reach the final of the El Gouna International Squash Open.

Top seed El Sherbini took the first two games 11-7, before El Hammamy, the sixth seed, replied to win the next two games by the same scoreline.

That took the contest to a decider which El Sherbini dominated as she sealed victory 11-7, 11-7, 7-11, 7-11, 11-5 in 74 minutes at the El Gouna Conference and Culture Center.

El Sherbini will face second seed and compatriot Nouran Gohar in the final, after Gohar swept aside fourth seed Amanda Sobhy of the United States 11-6, 11-8, 11-2.

In the men’s draw, top seed Mohamed ElShorbagy beat sixth seed Fares Dessouky in another all Egyptian affair 11-6, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6.

ElShorbagy will face world number three Paul Coll in the final, after the New Zealander triumphed with an impressive tactical display against Egypt’s Tarek Momen.

Coll utilised his height and slowed the pace of the game on his way to a 11-9, 11-6, 11-7 win against the second seed in just over an hour.
