Amanda Sobhy set up a semi-final versus world number two Nouran Gohar at the El Gouna International Open - set to be the pair's first meeting since Sobhy accused the Egyptian of blocking in a bad-tempered loss at the Windy City Open.

Today, at the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Platinum event in Egypt, both Gohar and the United States' Sobhy recorded 3-1 wins.

Gohar beat Rowan Elaraby 11-2, 11-5, 11-13, 11-9 in an all-Egyptian last-eight clash.

Sobhy, seeded fourth, went behind but rallied to defeat Egypt's Salma Hany 9-11, 11-7, 11-2, 11-6.

"That match is still in my head," Pan American Games champion said Sobhy in reference to the Windy City Open encounter.

"It's definitely going to give me that extra fuel and incentive, but I am not going to let it cloud my judgement or get too much in my head.

"I know Gohar is going to bring her A game on Thursday, so I fully expect a battle."

The other two women's quarter-finals, featuring four of the top six seeds, will be played tomorrow.

In the men's contest, second seed Tarek Momen made relatively quick work of Grégoire Marche in the quarter-finals.

The Egyptian beat France's Marche 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 in 41 minutes.

New Zealand's Paul Coll - seeded third in El Gouna - overcame a wobble to beat home player and fifth seed Karim Abdel Gawad 2-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-2.

Coll and Momen are due to face off on Thursday (May 27), as are Sobhy and Gohar.
