Wheelchair Rugby Australia (WRA) has announced Kayo Sports as the official streaming partner of its 2021 National Championship in Gold Coast, which starts on Friday (May 28).

Kayo is set to live stream 19 matches across both divisions of the Championship, including medal matches, for free.

In addition, Fox Sports will broadcast a highlight package from each day of the tournament.

All 19 matches will be streamed on Kayo Freebies, which is available for all to watch in Australia.

The deal comes as WRA looks to reignite domestic interest in wheelchair rugby before the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

"This is a history-making deal for our sport," said WRA general manager Chris Nay.

"We are extremely grateful to the team at Kayo and Fox Sports for seeing the value in our product and supporting us in this manner.

"The difference this streaming deal and added exposure will make to our athletes, state programmes and the broader disability sports community in Australia is immeasurable."

The Championship is set to take place at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre in Carrara until Sunday (May 30).

"We are really excited to be partnering with Wheelchair Rugby Australia to help showcase the incredible talent and skill involved in the sport to new audiences," said Kayo's director of marketing, Kim McConnie.

"This partnership forms part of our ongoing commitment to make selected games and events from all sporting competitions supported by the Federal Government's women's, niche and under-represented sports grant available for free on Kayo, where our rights permit."

Australia are the reigning Paralympic champions in wheelchair rugby, having won back-to-back golds at London 2012 and Rio 2016.

The country also won the world title in 2014.
