The Netherlands' Fleur Jong has smashed the women's long jump F62 world record by 81 centimetres on the second day of competition at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil in Switzerland.

She became the first woman to clear six metres in the event, setting a new best of 6.02 metres to conclude the day.

Jong broke the world record on three of her attempts.

Britain's Hannah Cockroft added another gold today, following on from her breaking the women's 800 metres T34 world record yesterday, with a win in the 100m.

The 28-year-old set a new season's best in the sprint race with a time of 16.87sec, close to her personal best of 16.71.

Belgium's Joyce Lefevre and Amy Siemons of The Netherlands completed the podium in the race.

Cockroft was not the only successful Briton today - Scottish star Sammi Kinghorn was just 0.03 away from her personal best in the women's 100m T53, clocking 16.24 on her way to the gold.

Veteran distance legend David Weir, who is a seven-time Paralympic champion, made it a third British victory today in the men's 1,500m T54, finishing in 3min 04.76sec ahead of Japan's Sho Watanabe and Russia's Alexey Bychenok.

In the women's 1,500m equivalent race, Manuela Schär from Switzerland claimed the win in 3:23.58, holding off the United States' Susannah Scaroni in a sprint.

Nikita den Boer of The Netherlands came in nearly six seconds behind the Swiss athlete for the bronze medal.

In the women's 100m T54, Momoka Muraoka of Japan prepared well for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics with a win in 16.60, ahead of Mauritius' Marie Emmanuelle Anais Alphonse and Lea Bayekula of Belgium.
