Officials from the International University Sports Federation (FISU) met virtually with European colleagues for a meeting which focused on education and development.
FISU staff members were joined by colleagues from the European University Sports Association (EUSA) for the online gathering.
"Having the main focus on the fields of education and development, the representatives of the two organisations also discussed the general cooperation, EUSA projects and activities, supported by FISU, and the changes due to COVID-19 especially concerning sports and educational events," a statement said.
EUSA said it would continue to support FISU initiatives such as the International Day of University Sport, which is marked worldwide every year on September 20.

FISU's Healthy Campus programme, which pledges to improve the health and well-being of students at universities across the globe, will also be supported.
The programme celebrated its one-year anniversary this month.
"FISU and EUSA will continue cooperation, supporting the development of university sport, promoting sport and educational events," the statement added.
Both organisations have also pledged to work together with national university sports bodies.
