The Liechtenstein Olympic Committee (LOC) says it is putting the focus on being healthy, successful and sustainable as it launches its new vision and strategy for 2021 through to 2024.

The LOC, which is responsible for an umbrella organisation of 49 sports associations and has overseen association-organised mass and performance sports since 2019, has formed three guiding goals to help shape its strategy for the next three-year period.

The first goal is focusing on encouraging the entire population of Liechtenstein to engage in regular sporting activities while also pushing development of sport at a competitive level.

Goal two is furthering development of Liechtenstein’s sports system and the third is related to living and spreading the Olympic values.

The LOC says that "athletes are at the centre of its thinking and acting" while the organisation also stressed that due to the size of the nation it "relies strongly on cooperation with its peers, athletes, associations, coaches, authorities and partners."

Liechtenstein has a population of just over 38,000 people and has sent teams to the summer and winter Olympics since 1936, only missing three Games.

The country has never medalled at a summer Olympic Games but has 10 Winter Olympic medals, all coming in Alpine skiing.

The most recent of these came at Pyeongchang 2018 when Tina Weirather claimed bronze in the women’s Super-G.
