The International Floorball Federation (IFF) has elected its first social media ambassadors hailing from 19 different countries as part of its bid to raise the profile of the sport.

All ambassadors have international floorball experience and will use their creative skills to raise awareness and visibility of the sport in line with one of the IFF's strategic priorities, it is claimed.

Two of the social media ambassadors have applied in pairs - twins Oona and Veera Kauppi of Finland and Emilie Schampheleer and Chloë De Coninck of Belgium.

A total of 22 ambassadors and 24 players were selected from 33 applications.

"It was a tough decision to choose from so many good candidates," said IFF communications manager Merita Bruun.

"We received a total of 33 applications from different parts of the floorball world and after evaluating the applications, and taking into account geographical spreading, gender balance and international sport performance, we decided to choose a total of 22 social media ambassadors, who we will start collaborating with more closely."

Australia's Yasmin Skene, Canadians Tristan Walsh and Tyler Brush, Denmark's Emil Brixager, Finland's Aki Karjalainen and Tiltu Siltanen, France's Adrián Iñigo Tastet, Britain's Peter Halket, Germany's Flemming Kühl, Hungary's Blanka Benyo and Iran's Mohammadamin Davalou are among the social ambassadors.

The others announced are Camilla Olshov of Italy, Kenya's Collins Malita, Rikke Ingebrigtsli Hansen of Norway, Patrik Schoultze of the Philippines, Slovakia's Sara Adamcova, Spain's Daniel Guzman Vicente, Sweden's Emrick Wiggur, Marian Hrabovyk of Ukraine and American Case Connor.

"The tasks will differ a bit depending on the social media ambassador's preferences, but at least Instagram takeovers from national team camps, are an easy way to start," added IFF information coordinator Mari Myllärinen.

"We are also very open to ideas from our ambassadors."
