Alla Belinska and Iryna Koliadenko both bagged gold medals as Ukraine enjoyed a successful day at the European Wrestling Championships in Polish city Warsaw.

Iryna Koliadenko secured Ukraine’s first gold of the day when she defeated Hungarian Marianna Sastin 4-1 in the 62-kilogram final.

Belarus’ Veranika Ivanova overcame Valeria Koblova Zholobova 5-0 to clinch bronze which was also won by Poland’s Katarzyna Madrowska after Taybe Mustafa Yusein pulled out through injury.

Ukraine had more to celebrate when Belinska claimed top spot in the 72kg class after seeing off Bulgarian Yuliana Yaneva 6-3.

Dalma Caneva of Italy edged Germany’s Maria Selmaier 3-2 and Russia’s Evgeniia Zakharchenko thrashed Merve Pul of Turkey in two contrasting bronze-medal matches.

Tetiana Rizhko had the chance to secure a hat-trick of gold medals for Ukraine after reaching the 65kg final.

But Rizhko came undone against Moldovan Irina Ringaci who ran out a convincing 10-0 winner.

Kriszta Tunde Incze of Romania did enough to beat IrIna Petrovna Netreba of Azerbaijan 4-3 to win bronze.

Poland’s Aleksandra Wolczynska also got on the podium after sweeping aside Alina Antipova of Latvia in a 6-0 success.

Iryna Kurachkina of Belarus captured her second European crown and first since 2018 with a 15-4 win over Poland’s Anhelina Lysak in the 57kg final.

Evelina Nikolova of Bulgaria came out on top in a closely-fought bronze medal encounter, beating Svetlana Lipatova of Russia 8-7.

Alina Hrushyna claimed another medal for Ukraine with a bronze after triumphing 6-0 against Italy’s Francesca Indelicato.

In the 53kg final, Russia’s Olga Khoroshavtseva proved too strong for Greece’s Maria Prevolaraki in a 7-0 success.

The bronze medals were won by Moldova’s Iulia Leorda and German Annika Wendle who respectively defeated Azerbaijan’s Tatyana Varansova 10-0 and Ukraine’s Mariia Vynnyk 8-1.

Competition is due to continue tomorrow with the finals of the Greco-Roman event.
