Bruna Vuletić and Matea Jelić progressed to the women’s under-62 and under-67 kilograms finals at the Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia in the Bulgarian capital.

Vuletić faced Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Marija Štetić in a tight final, with the Croatian emerging as a narrow winner.

The 21-year-old, a World Championship bronze medallist in 2019, struck late in the contest to triumph 14-10.

Turkey’s Irem Yaman and Russia’s Kristina Prokudina completed the podium positions in the under-62kg event, following semi-final defeats.

The under-67kg final saw Jelić overcome Britain’s Lauren Williams 13-10, amid a flurry of late points between the rivals.

Turkey’s Nur Tatar and France’s Magda Wiet-Henin earned bronze medals in the division.

The men’s under-74kg competition saw Poland’s Karol Robak top the podium.

The 23-year-old held off a fightback from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Nedzad Husic to win the title.

Robak enjoyed a strong lead in the early stage of the contest, but Husic closed to within one point in the closing minute of the final.

Two attacks by Robak were rewarded in the closing seconds as he sealed a 16-12 victory to win gold.

Spain’s Daniel Quesada and Belgium’s Badr Achab completed the podium places.

The final gold of the day was earned by Russia’s Maksim Khramtsov in the men's under-80kg weight division.

Khramtsov, who previously won the European title in 2018, came from six points down in the final to ultimately defeat Azerbaijan’s Milad Beigi in sudden death.

The initial contest had ended 12-12.

Italy’s Simone Alessio and Spain’s Raul Martinez won bronze medals in the division.

Competition will conclude tomorrow with the final four weight divisions in action.
