USA Bobsled and Skeleton (USABS) has announced a new one-year partnership with hose manufacturer and distributer Kuriyama.

Located in Schaumburg in Illinois, Kuriyama’s product line consists of thermoplastic, rubber and metal hose products as well as accessories including couplings and fittings.

The USABS said it planned to utilise Kuriyama’s products in the team garage.

As part of the deal scheduled to run until June 2022, the USABS said Kuriyama would also provide additional support to assist with costs associated with bobsleigh and skeleton.

"Kuriyama falls right in line with our team of partners," said Michelle Knous, director of partner and sponsorship development for the USABS.

"They are a company that understands the financial burden of amateur sport and what it takes to get red, white, and blue to the top of the podium, and we are looking forward to having them along for the journey."

The Kuriyama of America group includes eight subsidiaries and six distribution centres, as well as numerous distributors.

Some of the Kuriyama assembly equipment is said to operate at lower temperature to many of its competitors.

"Kuriyama of America is excited about our small part in helping our USA Bobsled and Skeleton athletes achieve gold," said Tim O’Neill, marketing manager for Kuriyama.

"The partnership helps draw attention to our ‘cool running’ KuriCrimp Crimpers, as well as our specially formulated low-temperature flexible Tigerflex BW and Kuri Tec Tundra hoses.

"Just like the USA Bobsled and Skeleton team, they are built for optimal performance in sub-zero temperatures."

Kuriyama is the latest company to partner with the USABS following agreements with GMTM.com, Mananalu and Advanced Exoskeletal Systems in recent months.
