Japan’s Aaron Wolf and Hisayoshi Harasawa triumphed in the Asia-Oceania Judo Championships in Bishkek.

The pair are building towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, after being confirmed on the host nation’s team for the Games.

Wolf emerged as the winner of the men’s under-100 kilogram event in Kyrgyzstan, with the 2017 world champion overcoming Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadkarim Khurramov in the final.

The podium was completed by Uzbekistan’s Muzaffarbek Turoboyev and Erihemubatu from China.

Harasawa, the Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist, topped the standings in the in the men’s over-100kg event.

The 28-year-old secured victory in the final over South Korea's Kim Min-jong, the 2019 World Championship bronze medallist.

South Korea’s Kim Sung-min and Tajikistan’s Temur Rakhimov earned bronze medals in the weight division.

The final men’s event saw Uzbekistan’s Davlat Bobonov top the podium in the under-90kg competition, as he overcame Japan’s Shoichiro Mukai.

South Korea’s Gwak Dong-han and Tajikistan’s Komronshokh Ustopiriyon secured bronze.

South Korea and China celebrated success in the women’s heavyweight divisions.

Yoon Hyun-ji emerged as the winner of the women’s under-78kg event, as the South Korean earned victory against China's Ma Zhenzhao.

Chen Fei added to China's medal haul by earning the first bronze medal in the division, with South Korea’s Lee Jeong-yun securing the final podium spot.

China’s Xu Shiyan was crowned women’s over-78kg champion, following her victory over team mate Wang Yan.

South Korea’s Han Mi-jin and Kim Ha-yun settled for bronze medals.

The team event will take place tomorrow as the tournament concludes.

With four golds, five silvers and eight bronzes, South Korea lead the medal standings.

International Judo Federation President Marius Vizer was among the spectators in Bishkek today.
