Sofia in Bulgaria is set to host the first of two back-to-back International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) World Cup events from tomorrow.

Action in the Bulgarian capital is scheduled to run until Sunday (April 11).

A second consecutive World Cup competition is then set to take place in Sofia from April 15 to 18 as part of a condensed calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The opening event begins with women's qualification, with men's qualification due to follow on Thursday (April 8).

The women's and men's finals are due to be held on Friday (April 9) and Saturday (April 10), respectively, before the mixed relay brings the event to a close.

Britain's Kate French will be aiming to continue her strong start to the season after winning the women's gold medal and the mixed relay title in Budapest last month.

Latvia’s Pavels Svecovs clinched victory in the men's event in the Hungarian capital to earn his maiden UIPM World Cup triumph.

The UIPM World Cup forms part of the qualification process for modern pentathlon at Tokyo 2020, postponed to this year because of the coronavirus crisis.
