Chantal van den Broek-Blaak and Mathieu van der Poel will target further success at the Tour of Flanders, with the second monument of the cycling season taking place tomorrow.

The one-day cobbled race in Belgium will receive greater focus for riders, following the postponement of Paris-Roubaix to October due to COVID-19.

Van der Poel will be among the favourites for the 263.7-kilometre men’s race in Belgium, with the Dutch star again expected to face competition from France’s world champion Julian Alaphilippe and Belgium’s Wout Van Aert.

Dutch rider Dylan van Baarle will hope to maintain his fine recent form.

Van Baarle triumphed at Dwars door Vlaanderen earlier this week, following a solo breakaway.

Slovakia’s Peter Sagan and Milan-San Remo winner Jasper Stuyven of Belgium could prove a threat.

The women’s race will take place over 152km.

Van den Broek-Blaak won last year’s race after a solo attack inside the final 20 kilometres of the event.

The Dutch star will be joined by team-mate Anna van der Breggen, the reigning world champion.

Van der Breggen won the Tour of Flanders back in 2018 and will hope to claim victory prior to her retirement at the conclusion of the season.

Former winners Elisa Longo Borghini of Italy and leading Dutch riders Marianne Vos and Annemiek van Vleuten will also take to the start line.
