The world's top players are set to battle it out for the title at the first women's golf major of the year when California hosts the 50th edition of the ANA Inspiration this week.

The tournament, considered the most glamorous of the five women's majors, is due to take place at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage in California from tomorrow until Sunday (April 4).

Players including world number one Ko Jin-young and defending champion Mirim Lee of South Korea are among those to have entered the event, which has a total prize purse of $60,000 (£43,500/€51,000).

Lee won last year's ANA Inspiration in a three-way playoff against Nelly Korda of the United States and Canadian Brooke Henderson.

"I’ve always said when you put yourself into those positions, you get more comfortable being in those in the future," Korda said.

"I feel like a lot of people put pressure on themselves when it comes to major Championships.

"I’ve just learned to kind of put the same mindset to every tournament and not put so much pressure on major Championships.

"Obviously you want to win them but I feel like people get so in their heads when they get to a major."

The tournament is set to be held under a series of COVID-19 restrictions.
