Defending champion Fares Dessouky will face Marwan ElShorbagy as he bids to win back-to-back Professional Squash Association (PSA) Black Ball Squash Open finals.

The two Egyptian players came through their semi-final encounters in straight games at the Black Ball Sporting Club in Cairo.

In the evening’s first match on the Glass Court, seventh seed Dessouky beat world champion and third seed, the highest remaining going into the day’s action, fellow Egyptian Tarek Momen 11-8, 11-9, 11-7, in a masterful display that lasted 47 minutes.

In a bid to retain the title, Dessouky will face another Egyptian in sixth seed ElShorbagy, who showcased his tactical nous as he overcame seventh seed Joel Makin of Wales 17-15, 11-9, 11-8 in 69 minutes.

Today’s results mean Egypt will win both the men’s and women’s editions of the PSA World Tour Platinum event this year, after world number one Nour El Sherbini won the women’s tournament last week.
