Austria’s Marita Kramer triumphed in the first of two International Ski Federation (FIS) Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup competitions in Nizhny Tagil.

Kramer topped the standings at the halfway mark of competition at the Russian venue after recording a distance of 96.5 metres.

She sealed victory by jumping 96m in the second round, which gave her an overall score of 232.1 points.

Kramer has now earned three World Cup wins this season after triumphs in Ramsau and Titisee-Neustadt.

Japan’s Sara Takanashi finished as the runner-up on 224.1 points after jumps of 92.5m and 95.5m.

Nika Kriznar completed the podium places on 218.1, with the Slovenian having jumped 94m in both rounds.

The result saw the World Cup lead shift from Kriznar to Takanashi.

Takanashi overturned a narrow five-point deficit in the standings, with the Japanese star in first place on 686.

Kriznar us 15 adrift in second as she has 671 points.

Kramer lies third in the standings on 560 following her win today.

Slovenia’s Ema Klinec, the newly crowned normal hill world champion, finished the competition in 11th place.

Klinec will hope for a stronger finish in tomorrow’s event.
