Momota, who made his return to the international circuit following a life-threatening injury last year, was defeated for only the second time in 47 singles matches when the Malaysian sixth seed won their tie 21-16, 21-19.

Lee faces unseeded Mark Caljouw of The Netherlands in the semi-finals following his victory over Lakshya Sen of India 21-17, 16-21, 21-17.

Third seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark took three games to defeat Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama 21-16, 9-21, 21-11, and now faces compatriot and second seed Viktor Axelsen following his dominant 21-4, 21-5 win over Thailand's Sitthikom Thammasin.

Thai fourth seed Ratchanok Intanon is through to the semi-finals of the women's singles following an 18-21, 21-17, 21-10 win over Danish seventh seed Mia Blichfeldt.

Intanon will now face Indian fifth seed PV Sindhu who battled back from a game down in a high-quality contest to defeat Japanese third seed Akane Yamaguchi 16-21, 21-16, 21-19.

In the men's doubles, third seeds Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda of Japan ended the hopes of home favourites and eighth seeds Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge of England, winning 21-19, 9-21, 21-8.

They will face Denmark's Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen who soundly defeated French-Bulgarian brothers Christo and Toma Junior Popov 21-10, 21-14.

Other Danish players progressed too, with Jeppe Bay and Lasse Mølhede defeating Nipitphon Phuangphuapet and Tanupat Viriyangkura of Thailand 21-19, 21-12.

They will now play Japan's fourth seeds Hiroyuki Endo and Yuta Watanabe following their 24-22, 21-19 victory over Denmark's Mathias Christiansen and Niclas Nohr.

Top seeds in the women's doubles, Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota, came from a game down to defeat English seventh seeds Chloe Birch and Lauren Smith 14-21, 21-12, 21-14, and will now face Dutch pair Selena Piek and Cheryl Seinen following their 24-22, 21-12 victory over India's Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy.

Second seeds Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara, also of Japan, won in three games against Danish eighth seeds Maiken Freuergaard and Sara Thygesen 21-14, 19-21, 21-15.

They face fifth seeds, compatriots Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida, in the semi-finals following their 21-12, 22-20, 21-16 victory over Pearly Tan and Muralitharan Thinaah of Malaysia.
