Tashkent has been chosen to stage this year's Asian Sambo Championships, replacing Bali.

The Sambo Union of Asia decided the move the event during an online meeting, and competition is now scheduled for June 4 to 6.

A Sambo Union of Asia Congress is also scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan's capital, alongside tournaments for seniors, juniors and youths.

Tashkent previously held the Asian Sambo Championships in 2017.

It had been due to stage the 2021 tournament before the coronavirus crisis caused a reshuffle and 2020 host Bali was penciled in to stage this year's event.

However, Tashkent has now replaced the Indonesian venue.

Khujand in Tajikistan was previously chosen to host the 2022 edition.

At the 2019 Asian Sambo Championships in India, Uzbekistan won 23 gold medals - more than any other country.

Tashkent is also due to stage the Asian Youth Games in 2025 and the Sambo Union of Asia is lobbying for the sport to be included on the programme.
