Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero took the lead of the women's contest at the 470 World Championships in Vilamoura in Portugal.

The Spanish pair had finished yesterday in second but moved up to first after two races today. 

They achieved one win and a sixth place result, giving them a net total of 13 points. 

Camille Lecointre and Aloïse Retornaz of France slipped down to second place.

The duo had a 19th place finish discarded and then finished third in the last race of the day to put them on 18.

Israel's Noya Bar-am and Shahar Tibi moved up to third with 20, having placed third and seventh.  

There was more success for Spain in the men's contest as Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez maintained their lead with 11 points.

They triumphed in the opening race of the day but then finished 19th in the next, although this result was discarded. 

Sweden's Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström stayed in second on 13, having had a 15th place result discarded and then finishing third. 

Pavel Sozykin and Denis Gribanov moved into third place.

The Russian pair were victorious in the final race of the day to sit on 15 points. 

Maria Vittoria Marchesini and Bruno Festo of Italy moved to the top of the leaderboard of the mixed competition with 14 points. 

Gil Cohen and Noam Homri of Israel sit on 16, level with Britain's Amy Seabright and James Taylor. 

Competition is scheduled to continue with more races tomorrow.
