The Cerebral Palsy Sports Federation of India (CPSFI) is planning a women's football development camp after meeting with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF).

Around 50 participants attended the meeting between the CPSFI, AIFF and the IFCPF to discuss the development of CP football among women.

Guest speakers from the CPSFI and IFCPF shared their experiences and ideas.

The meeting was held to commemorate National Girl Child Day in India.

CPSFI chief executive and general secretary Kavita Suresh revealed there were plans to now organise a development camp for women's CP football.

"The webinar will help us introduce women's CP football in India," said Suresh.

"A lot of our members who were on the programme and many of them who have viewed the video on social media are today aware of the sport and have reached out assuring that they would help us promote the sport.

"India is a large country and camps in every district is a way forward to build awareness, recruit and train the girls.

"CPSFI has started working on building a national women's CP football team.

"We hope to hold a development camp for women's CP football parallel to our National CP Football Championship 2020 which was postponed due to the pandemic and is due to be conducted in 2021."

Gabriella Van Driel, chair of the IFCPF women's CP football development group, also attended the meeting and spoke of the importance of focusing on the global expansion of the sport.

"The more organisations are participating in women's CP football, the more players in the world can compete against and learn from each other," said Van Driel.

"In this stage of early development of the female game every country that can add a female team to an event is giving a major boost to the worldwide development.

"Together we are setting examples and showcasing opportunities, where many other organisations can learn and benefit from."

The AIFF previously worked with the CPSFI in August by organising a webinar discussing grassroots football.
