Denmark are set to defend their crown at the upcoming 2021 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships in Vantaa in Finland, starting tomorrow.

The Danish team has won the past three editions of the biennial competition and have won all but one Championship since 1996.

To progress, Denmark must finish in the top two of their group, which also consists of hosts Finland, 2013 champions Germany and the returning Scotland - back for the first time since 2015.

In-form players Anders Antonsen and Viktor Axelsen will look to help the champions retain their title.

Germany were runners-up to the champions in 2019 in Copenhagen and are the only other nation to win the European Mixed Team title in the 21st century.

Finland last featured in the competition back in 2013 under the expanded format and will need to be in good form to progress to the semi-finals.

Group Two is all to play for as England, The Netherlands, France and Russia are all set to compete for a final four spot.

However, England will be missing some of their star names including Marcus Ellis, Chris Langridge, Lauren Smith and Chloe Birch.

France's in-form mixed doubles pairing of Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue will feature, as will Dutch men's players Mark Caljouw and Robin Tabeling.

Matches are set to take place at the Energia Areena from tomorrow until Saturday (February 20).

Milton Keynes in England was initially scheduled to host the event before it was moved due to financial issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
