Two-time Paralympic champion Marie-Amélie Le Fur won the women's long jump T44 at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai.

The Frenchwoman jumped 6.14 metres, winning the gold medal at the Dubai Club for People of Determination with a comfortable lead.

Her nearest opponent was compatriot Typhaine Solde with 4.84m.

Elena Kratter of Switzerland finished third after jumping 4.29m.

She earned Paralympic gold in the 100 metres at London 2012 and in the long jump at Rio 2016.

Le Fur also has four world titles, triumphing in the 100m and 200m in Christchurch in 2011, and the 400m and long jump in Doha in 2015.

The 32-year-old had planned to quit the sport last year but delayed her retirement following the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

With the United Arab Emirates earning four medals yesterday, Sara Al Senaani clinched another for the hosts.

She took a bronze medal in the women's shot put F33 after a personal best of 5.55m.

Morocco’s Fouzia El Kassioui won gold in that event with a throw of 6.70m and was followed by Algeria's Asmahane Boudjadar with 5.98m.

"I am very happy with my performance today," Al Senaani said.

"I trained hard for the last few months and my target was to get 5.50m distance.

"I know there’s more work to be done in the next few months.

"I need to keep training hard to achieve my goal of a medal at Tokyo 2020."

Competition is scheduled to continue in Dubai tomorrow.
