The Ivory Coast Floorball Federation (FIFL) has launched a project to promote the participation of girls in the sport.

Part of the IFF's "GoGirls! Floorball" initiative, the project aims to increase, encourage and promote the participation of girls in floorball.

The first stage of the project took place in Abidjan in January, with around 50 girls participating in the session.

FIFL President Marcel Wadja also attended the event.

Participants were taught the rules of floorball, sticks and ball handling, and behaviour on the playing area.

This was then followed by a series of games.

"At the moment, 155 girls play floorball in Cote d’Ivoire and we want to increase the number of girls and women players, that is why we decided to launch the project Go Girls Floorball," said Wadja.

"The next step of the GoGirls! Floorball project will be at Yamoussoukro in the centre region of the country, Dabou in the southern part and Guiglo, a city in the western part."

The International Floorball Federation launched GoGirls! Floorball to increase the participation of floorball among girls and women around the world.

It has three aims - getting girls to play, teaching girls to play, and keeping girls playing.
