Two new Board members have been appointed by Germany's Disabled Sports Foundation.

Both Torsten Burmester and Marion Sollbach will take roles at the organisation, which was set-up in 1993 and has since sponsored numerous projects related to disabled sport.

Burmester is the secretary general of the German Paralympic Committee (DBS), a role he took on in September after succeeding Thomas Urban.

He also replaces Urban on the Foundation's Board.

Sollbach currently works as head of sustainability at department store company Galeria Kaufhof, and replaces former DBS vice-president Michael Rosenbaum.

The new appointments take their seats alongside the Board's chair Helene Hammelrath, DBS President Friedhelm Julius Beucher and table tennis player Rainer Schmidt, a triple Paralympic gold medallist.

"Sport has never let me go," said Burmester.

"For the last ten years of my professional life I would like to live out my old passion and contribute my part to the further development of disabled sports in Germany."

Sollbach added: "The current times show us how important health is for all of us and what an important contribution sport and exercise make to our wellbeing.

"I want to support people with disabilities in doing sports and doing something for their health."

The purpose of the foundation is to promote the participation, rehabilitation, social integration and inclusion of people with disabilities in sport.
