World Para Dance Sport has launched an online contest to give Para-dancers a chance to compete in spite of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Freestyle and Showdance Online Competition has been announced, with athletes having until March 12 or March 19 to enter.

Video submissions must be between 90 and 120 seconds in length and sent to World Para Dance Sport.

A panel of international adjudicators will decide the winners.

"We want the Freestyle and Showdance Online Competition to be a great celebration of our sport," World Para Dance Sport manager Camila Rodrigues said.

"It will provide athletes the opportunity to stay active and motivated during the COVID-19 pandemic, while also offering an unique chance for new dancers who are still not classified or who want to try Para dance sport for the first time."

Registered athletes must enter by March 12 and unregistered athletes by March 19.

Winners will receive complimentary access to DSI TV, which boasts "a comprehensive back catalogue of past competitions, lectures, congress and instructional videos" and is run by World Para Dance Sport partner DSI, for a month.
