Denmark's Viktor Axelsen and Spain's Carolina Marín have been confirmed as the top seeds in the men's and women's singles events, respectively, at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Finals in Bangkok.

Organisers have revealed the qualifiers for the tournament, scheduled to run from Wednesday (January 27) to Sunday (January 31).

Axelsen and Olympic champion Marín, who won the respective men and women's titles at both the Yonex and Toyota Thailand Open this month, are among the qualifiers.

Axelsen is the top seed in the men's singles event, with compatriot Anders Antonsen the second seed.

Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien-chen and Wang Tzu-wei are the third and fourth seeds, respectively.

Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong, Kidambi Srikanth of India, Lee Zi Jia of Malaysia and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia complete the eight-player field.

Women's top seed Marín is followed by Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu-ying, who was the defeated finalist in the two tournaments in Bangkok this month.

Home favourite Ratchanok Intanon is the third seed, while An Se-young of South Korea is seeded fourth.

Making up the remainder of the field are Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand, Michelle Li of Canada, Russia's Evgeniya Kosetskaya and PV Sindhu of India.

There is a notable lack of Japanese and Chinese players in the list of those qualified.

It was mandatory for players to enter both the Yonex Thailand Open and Toyota Thailand Open to be eligible to qualify for the World Tour Finals, but the Japanese and Chinese national teams withdrew from the two events after concerns surrounding COVID-19.

The draw for the tournament is set for tomorrow and will be streamed on the BWF Facebook and YouTube channels.
