A competition development performance coach programme devised by Taekwondo Canada has received final approval from a key association in the country.

Taekwondo Canada said the National Coaching Certification Programme (NCCP) had been formally recognised by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC).

The national governing body said the recognition "is comprehensive in its scope and outlines a pathway for success as the organisation moves through the next Olympic cycle encompassing both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024".

The programme has been developed for taekwondo coaches in conjunction with the CAC.

It forms part of the national coaching certification programme, which Taekwondo Canada said "provides coaches at all levels with standardised, inclusive, and safe sport education" across the country.

"We are extremely appreciative of the CAC for acknowledging our work on the NCCP competition development programme," said Taekwondo Canada executive director Dave Harris.

"The entire Taekwondo Canada staff has worked extremely hard on this programme and we look forward to providing our coaches with world class education.

"We would also like to thank the CAC for all of their assistance in helping us achieve our goal."
