World Para Swimming has published a five-event calendar for the 2021 World Series.

With the World Series due to take place in a Paralympic year for the first time, events have been scheduled on five continents before Tokyo 2020.

Sheffield in Britain is due to open the tour from April 8 to 11, before an event in Indianapolis in the United States follows from April 15 to 17.

Lignano Sabbiadoro in Italy and an undetermined Australian venue are also hoped to stage events in April, but dates are yet to be decided.

German capital Berlin is due to host what is currently the final meeting of the World Series from June 17 to 20.

World Para Swimming hopes to announce a sixth event next month.

Swimming competition at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics is due to begin on August 25 and conclude on September 3 2021.

Only two events could be staged in the 2020 World Series - in Melbourne, pre-pandemic, and in Berlin in October.

With travel restrictions and mandatory quarantine periods for international arrivals still in place across much of the world, the global health crisis could yet impact the 2021 season.

Having started in 2017, the 2021 World Series will be the fifth edition.

A standardised points system is used to calculate the best-performing swimmer overall, meaning every result counts.
