Olympic champion Ester Ledecká of the Czech Republic will miss tomorrow's parallel giant slalom event at the International Ski Federation Snowboard World Cup in Carezza in Italy.

Ledecká, who made headlines at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang after claiming gold in the parallel giant slalom snowboard and super-G Alpine skiing events, topped the podium at the season-opening event in Cortina d'Ampezzo at the weekend.

But the 25-year-old Czech star has not entered the second event of the campaign, instead opting to compete in the downhill at the Alpine World Cup in Val-d’Isère.

Germany's Selina Jörg, second behind Ledecká after losing the big final to the Czech athlete in Cortina d'Ampezzo, and her compatriot Ramona Theresia Hofmeister will start among the favourites.

Italian veteran Roland Fischnaller will aim to record his second straight World Cup victory on home soil as he heads the list of entrants for the men's event.

The 40-year-old defending World Cup champion triumphed at the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games venue on Saturday (December 12) to make the perfect start to the season.

All three athletes who made the podium in Cortina are set to be in action in the men's competition as Aaron March of Italy and Austria's Benjamin Karl, second and third last time out, respectively, are among the entrants.
