Student Sport Ireland has launched a webinar series on the topic of high performance.

The initiative has been spearheaded by the organisation's High Performance Committee and will feature a number of discussions.

Its aim is to show how talented athletes across a number of sports mix student life with training and competing on the international and national stage.

The series was developed in partnership with the Sport Ireland Institute, which helps to develop the careers of athletes by aiding them as they combine studying and competing.

David Gillick, a two-time European indoor champion over 400 metres, is the presenter of the series alongside diver Oliver Dingley, who reached the Rio 2016 Olympic final in the three metres springboard.

Gillick is a former student of the Technological University of Dublin, which Dingley now attends.

The pair were joined by cricketer George Dockrell, runner Nadia Power and rower Katie O'Brien for the first episode.

Dockrell has played more than 200 times for Ireland, while Power won bronze over 800m at the European Under-23 Championships.

O'Brien won bronze in the PR2 women's single sculls at last year's World Rowing Championships in Austria.

Both Dockrell and Power attend Dublin City University, while O'Brien attends University College Dublin.
