Spain and Scotland are set for a showdown to decide who advances from Group 6 in qualifying for badminton's European Mixed Team Championship.

Both have three wins from three, and are due to meet in their final match tomorrow.

The Spanish beat hosts Portugal 4-1 in Caldas da Rainha today.

Beatriz Corralles, a bronze medallist at the 2015 European Games, and Luís Enrique Peñalver - a junior gold medallist in the European Mixed Team Championship - both won singles matches to set Spain on their way, and it was not until the fifth match - mixed doubles - that Portugal earned a consolation win.

Scotland defeated bottom-of-the-table Latvia 5-0, winning each match in straight games.

In Group 1, England beat Estonia to take charge and become the only team unbeaten after two ties apiece.

World number 59 Kristin Kuuba won the women's singles for Estonia, but hosts England won every other match to secure a 4-1 win in Milton Keynes.

Sweden beat Hungary by the same scoreline in the group's other clash.

In Group 3 in Linz, hosts Austria fell 4-1 to The Netherlands, who are now top with one match remaining.

The Czech Republic, who they play next, beat Slovakia 4-1.

Over in Group 2, Russian won 5-0 for the second day in a row, this time seeing off hosts Belgium in Aartselaar.

Switzerland defeated Poland 4-1 in the group's other game.

Group 4 and Group 5 - due to be hosted by Germany and France respectively - were both called off because of the coronavrius crisis.

Hosts Finland and reigning champions Denmark have already qualified for the European Mixed Team Championship next year.
