The make-up of USA Taekwondo's Athlete Advisory Council has been confirmed after nominations and elections.

Jaysen Ishida and Cheyenne Lewis have both been given roles automatically after earning their places on the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee's Athlete Advisory Council.

They take two of the seven spots reserved for sparring athletes on the USA Taekwondo Council.

Joining them for sparring are Madelynn Gorman-Shore, Terrence Jennings, Hannah Keck, CJ Nickolas and Anastasija Zolotic.

They all also received their seats automatically as only the required minimum number of eligible athletes were nominated.

Two poomsae athletes were elected - Carissa Fu and David Turgeon.

Fu received 36 per cent of the vote with Turgeon tallying 31 per cent.

Brianna Salinaro was elected as the Para-taekwondo representative after standing unopposed.

The Council will now begin its work from January 1 and its term will last until 2024.

Barbara Brand, the outgoing chairman, welcomed the new group.

"Congratulations and welcome to the newly elected US Olympic Paralympic Athlete Advisory Council representatives and USA Taekwondo Athlete Advisory Council representatives," said Brand.

"They will have the wonderful opportunity to serve taekwondo athletes through representation on several key USOPC and USA Taekwondo Committees.

"In addition, they will be in position to ensure fair and equal playing fields in USA Taekwondo events and advise USA Taekwondo on athlete matters.

"As the new representatives look forward to coming on board, the outgoing Council wishes them the best of luck in every endeavour."
