The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has launched a new website with the wfdf.sport domain name which it is claimed will be easier to use on all mobile devices.

The revamp follows the last website overhaul in 2011, as the WFDF bids to deliver information in a "fully transparent fashion" and increase its virtual presence.

It also comes after the WFDF signed an agreement in 2018 to use the ".sport" domain, which is managed by the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF).

With more than 100 global brands, media agencies and event organisers using the domain, GAISF believes it helps them to stand out in a crowded digital world.

The WFDF claims the move also clearly demonstrates it is a recognised GAISF member.

"Even though most flying disc competitive events have been cancelled or postponed during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this year, we are extremely pleased to have been able to make progress in other areas such as IT and present our new website to the world," said WFDF President Robert Rauch.

"The goal in our new website design was to continue to provide the full range of information required by our global community in a fully transparent fashion and try to provide both the information about competitions and the full range of our disciplines."

Rauch said the website provided background on staff and volunteers, full financial audit and tax filings, Board minutes and WFDF policies.

After transferring information over from the previous website, Rauch identified historic articles and records as content areas targeted for improvement in the coming months.

"This more virtual sport age where one’s presence across the full spectrum of media is the key to success for any International Sport Federation, we have tried to make our site easier to use on all mobile devices," added Rauch.

"While many people have played a role in this project, WFDF wants to thank particularly our board member Steve Taylor and the members of his team at LUX Interactive for their contributions in spearheading this project, to our IT committee for their help in scrubbing it, and to our IT administrator Luke Tobiasiewicz for managing its latest development stages.

"We also want to thank Andre Kruse who had designed the previous site and provided volunteer IT support for nearly a decade."
