Britain retained their lead at the top of the European Cycling Union (UEC) Elite Track European Championships medal table after Katie Archibald won gold in the women's points race.

Archibald took the title in the women's points race after securing a total of 57 points in the 100 lap race, contested over 25 kilometres.

As well as securing the most points, the British rider also crossed the line in first place in a time of 32 min 32 sec.

The silver medal went to Silvia Zanardi of Italy with 39 points with bronze going to Karolina Karasiewicz of Poland with 35 points.

In the men's points race, contested over 160 laps, equivalent to 40 kilometres, Sebastian Mora Vedri of Spain took gold with 51 points, despite crossing the finish line in sixth place.

Silver went to Matteo Donega of Italy with 42 points while the bronze medal went to Daniel Crista of Romania with 40 points, who crossed the finish line in first place.

In the men's individual pursuit, gold went to Portugal's Ivo Oliveira in 4:08.116.

Silver went to Jonathan Milan of Italy in 4:08.772 with bronze going to Lev Gonov of Russia in 4:07.720.

The two keirin titles were also decided on the penultimate day of the Championships at the Kolodruma Velodrome in Plovdiv.

The women's title went to Olena Starikova of Ukraine who took gold.

Silver went to Sara Kankovska of the Czech Republic with bronze being won by Helena Casas Roige of Spain.

In the men's keirin, gold went to Maximilian Levy of Germany.

The silver medal went to Denis Dmitriev of Russia with bronze going to Sotirios Bretas of Greece.

The day's action means Britain top the medal table with nine medals, including six golds.

In second and third are Russia and Italy respectively, both with ten medals.

Russia are ahead by virtue of more golds won, four to the Italians two.

Competition concludes tomorrow with the final four titles of the Championships up for grabs - in the men's kilometre time trial, women's 500 metres time trial and the women's and men's madisons.
