The National Olympic Committee of Guinea-Bissau (COGB) has donated equipment to the country's Olympafrica Centre to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Masks, disinfectants and first aid kits were presented to the facility in Mansôa.

Officials from the COGB were able to make the donation following financial assistance from the Olympafrica International Foundation.

Olympafrica is a foundation owned by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, which is supported by the International Olympic Committee.

It was set-up to get more young people across Africa involved in sport and to develop sport at grassroots level.

Guinea-Bissau first competed at the Summer Olympics at Atlanta 1996.

The country has never won a medal and sent a team of five to the Rio 2016 Games, competing across the sports of athletics, judo and wrestling.

Nearly 2,500 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Guinea-Bissau, while the African country has reported close to 50 deaths.
