The International Ski Federation (FIS) has released a video trailer for next year’s World Snow Day.

The annual event - which is part of the organisation's Bring Children to the Snow campaign - is due to be held on January 17.

World Snow Day aims to increase participation in snow sports by giving children and their families the chance to experience and enjoy snow.

Various activities take place around the world, with organisations such as ski and snowboard schools, ski resorts, tourism boards and national governing bodies encouraged to join in.

The FIS says the trailer, which can viewed in more than 20 different languages, is designed to help organisers motivate people ahead of the event.

Last year saw 363 official activities held across 45 countries as part of the ninth edition of World Snow Day.

There were 72 events throughout China, with free or discounted ski lessons, equipment rental and lift passes available.

As part of its Beijing 2022 legacy, the Chinese Government wants to attract 300 million new winter sport participants.

The FIS launched World Snow Day after research suggested that the number of people participating in snow-related activities was dropping.
