Comoros earned a historic point at the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Women's Championship after drawing 1-1 with Angola.

The island nation conceded 35 goals in three matches during last year's tournament, but has been much improved this time around.

Cristina Makua put Angola 1-0 up midway through the second half at Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth, but Zaharouna Haoudadji equalised with seven minutes to go.

The final whistle gave Comoros their first-ever point at the COSAFA Women's Championship.

In the second match of the day, hosts South Africa came up against Eswatini.

Nomvula Kgoale and Gabriela Salgado both scored braces for South Africa, with Sibulele Holweni also getting on the scoresheet to confirm an emphatic 5-0 victory.

South Africa are now top of Group A with six points, followed by Eswatini on three and Comoros and Angola on one apiece.

Competition is scheduled to continue tomorrow when Malawi take on Lesotho in Group B.

Botswana and Tanzania are also set to meet in Group C.
