Paralympian Enrique Plantey and his girlfriend Triana Serfaty are set to publish a book aimed at breaking the silence around sex and disability.

Plantey, who competed in alpine skiing at both the Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Games, and Serfaty are now seeking to help people to speak openly about sex and disability in their book, entitled "Sexistimos" and which is set to be published in 2021.

Plantey, who has been in a wheelchair since he was a child, told the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) there had been limited information on the topic when he was younger and information was often misleading.

The couple say the book aims to be a practical guide, which explores topics such as para-orgasm, masturbation, sexual education, fertility, medication, taboos and communication.

They have also launched an Instagram page offering advice, consultations and live feeds with experts in the field.

"In Sexistimos we talk a lot about sex and trust," Plantey told the IPC.

"I had an accident when I was 11 years old, and I didn’t have anything like this kind of information.

“The information that I had is really different from the information that we want to put in this book.

"A lot of people have really basic questions like, ‘If I want to sleep with a woman, how can I do it?’ or they mention fears about their disability.

"For example, ‘How can I move from my wheelchair to the bed?

"Simple things that we can answer based on how I do it or someone else does it."

The book is expected to include stories from similar couples across different ages and impairments and will conclude with short erotic stories about people with impairments.
