A record 12 candidates will stand in the British Paralympic Association (BPA) Athletes’ Commission elections next month.

Six candidates will join the Athletes’ Commission and will serve four-year terms.

Candidates include equestrian’s Natasha Baker, wheelchair basketball’s Gaz Choudhry, athletics’ Libby Clegg, wheelchair fencer Gemma Collis-McCann and retired swimmer James Hollis.

Shooting’s Lorraine Lambert, retired sailor Helena Lucas, table tennis player Aaron McKibbin, swimmer Stephanie Millward, archer Tania Nadarajah, cyclist Helen Scott and boccia’s Claire Taggart complete the list of candidates.

“Now is the chance to help ensure the Athletes’ Commission truly represents the views of athletes from all sports, all backgrounds and all impairment groups and I would urge all athletes who are eligible to vote to make sure they do just that," said Athletes’ Commission chair Helene Raynsford.

The Athletes’ Commission serves as an advisory group to the BPA on a wide range of issues.

This includes classification, kit and media campaigns, and represents the views of athletes to the Board, executive team and other working groups and committees.

Each candidate has produced campaign videos which are on the ParalympicsGB YouTube channel.

Triathlon’s Claire Cashmore, equestrian’s Sophie Christiansen, judoka Ben Quilter and athletics Stef Reid are set to step down from the Commission when their terms conclude.

Retired rower Grace Clough, cyclist Lora Fachie, canoeist Charlotte Henshaw, powerlifter Ali Jawad and retired skier Sean Rose remain on the Commission, alongside chair Raynsford.

Voting opens online on November 6 through to November 25.

Current and retired Paralympians who have competed for ParalympicsGB at a Games within the last 12 years are eligible to take part.

Individuals will receive a dedicated e-mail which provides further details and a personal link to the voting platform where they will be asked to select three nominees, in no specific order, before submitting their vote.
