Olympic gold medallist Daina Gudzinevičiūtė has been re-elected for a third four-year term as President of the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania (LNOC).

The Sydney 2000 shooting champion defeated sole challenger Emilis Vaitkaitis, the President of the Lithuanian Swimming Federation, by 49 votes to 17 at the LNOC General Assembly.

Gudzinevičiūtė became an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member in 2018 and is a rare example of a female sporting President.

She is also an Executive Committee member of the European Olympic Committees.

"First of all, I would like to thank the Lithuanian sports community for the trust," Gudzinevičiūtė said.

"During the last eight years, we have managed to achieve great results together.

"The financial support for athletes and federations has notably increased and Lithuanian people have become more involved in the Olympic Movement over the years.

"The LNOC gained more confidence from our society and sponsors.

"We are respected, appreciated and our voice is heard globally in the Olympic Movement.

"I am delighted that the sports community has given me and my team the opportunity to continue the work we have started, to further develop our dialogue with the society and to keep on working in the best interest of sport."

Fifty-four-year-old Gudzinevičiūtė won the women's trap title at Sydney 2000 and is currently a member of the IOC's Coordination Commission for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

President of the Lithuanian Skating Federation Lilija Vanagienė, President of the Lithuanian Sports Masters Association Saulius Galadauskas and President of the Lithuanian Yachting Union Naglis Nasvytis were elected as vice-presidents of LNOC.

Valentinas Paketūras and Darius Čerka, the President of the Lithuanian Volleyball Federation, were named as secretary general and treasurer respectively.
