World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Europe has postponed its next Congress.

Due to take place in Italian capital Rome in February, it has been pushed back to November 2021 owing to uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic, which has made in-person gatherings and international travel problematic.

It will be the third WBSC Europe Congress, and is to be elective.

Softball Europe and Baseball Europe Divisional Congresses will be held in Rome at the same time.

The postponement decision was made by the WBSC Europe Executive Committee.

"The decision of postponing the Congress was taken under the authority under Article 13.6 of the WBSC Europe Statutes and in conformity with the WBSC Europe Code of Divisions," said a statement.

Lithuania's capital Vilnius hosted the last WBSC Europe Congress in February of this year.

Didier Seminet and Gabriel Waage are currently co-Presidents of WBSC Europe.

Frenchman Seminet was Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) President and Czech Waage his European Softball Federation (ESF) counterpart when the organisations came together to create WBSC Europe.

The CEB and ESF are due to dissolve in 2021, when a new WBSC Europe Executive Committee is elected.
