Paralympic medallist Guislaine Westelynck has been re-elected President of the French Handisport Federation (FFH) through to the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

Westelynck, a vice-president of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee and a member of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, received 73 per cent of the vote during the FFH Elective General Assembly.

The 61-year-old, who won a bronze and silver medal at the 1988 Paralympic Games in Seoul, became FFH President in 2018 and is set to serve in the role until 2024.

"I am extremely proud of the confidence that has once again been placed in me, I want to greet and congratulate the members elected to the Steering Committee who will accompany me during this new mandate," said Westelynck, who also sits on the Board of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee.

Louis-Frédéric Doyer, the former director general of the French Swimming Federation, succeeded Laurent Allard as general manager at the meeting.

Allard has stepped down after 34 years in the role with the FFH.

"My ambition revolves around our CAP24 project, which I want to consolidate more than ever in this period of turbulence, where stability will be essential," added Westelynck.

"I want to go further on our main priority areas: our attractiveness, our multisport, national and regional offer, our expertise and our high-level performances, but also and above all by paying special attention to development and territories.

"All this while maintaining our influence within the sports movement but also with our partners.

"More than ever, our federation is on the move, and I want to bring it with the whole team of the new Steering Committee towards 2024 and beyond."
