FIS President Gian Franco Kasper and secretary general Sarah Lewis participate in the summit, which saw discussions over key aspects of the upcoming winter season.

The international governing body revealed the focus was on the implication of the coronavirus pandemic on FIS events during the season.

Specific attention was given to the Beijing 2022 test events.

Test events are expected to take place from December to March.

Officials also discussed qualification and participation of Chinese athletes in all 55 FIS events on the programme for Beijing 2022.

FIS said the nomination of the Chinese Ski Association representatives for the FIS Committee from 2021 to 2022.

Representatives are due to be appointed by the FIS Council at the 52nd FIS Congress in May 2021.

The FIS praised public ice and snow sports activities in China, which are claimed to be helping with the promotion of ski sports to achieve the Chinese Government’s efforts to attract 300 million new winter sport participants.

The governing body highlighted the Get Into Snow Sports China programme, which is endorsed by both the Chinese Ski Association and FIS, among the initiatives.

The 500 days to go milestone, which occurred last Monday (September 21), saw events held at the Great Wall of China.

Musical performances took centre stage on the monument, with an Olympic-themed paper cutting art exhibition and activities with Chinese rights-holding broadcaster CCTV also taking place.

Earlier this month, as part of the 500 Days to Go activities, an Air China aircraft was wrapped in Olympic branding at Beijing Capital International Airport.

The aircraft, named "Winter Olympic Ice and Snow", bears the emblems of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and images of the mascots, Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon.
