The top seeds are through to the finals at the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Manchester Open.

France's Camille Serme needed all five games, but was able to overcome Hania El Hammamy, who had not lost a single game entering their semi-final.

Serme won the first two games, but a spirited comeback from the Egyptian meant the match went the distance.

Number one seed Serme held her nerve to secure a 11-6, 11-8, 11-13, 4-11, 11-9 win.

The world number three will face the world number four in the final, after Nour El Tayeb defeated England's Sarah-Jane Perry.

Having never lost to Perry on the PSA Tour, El Tayeb and her opponent split the opening two games.

The Egyptian battled through to secure a 11-8, 11-13, 14-12, 11-6 triumph.

In the men's draw, world number one Mohamed ElShorbagy was also taken to five games by Paul Coll.

New Zealand's Coll beat ElShorbagy earlier this year at the Windy City Open, but could not repeat the trick despite twice coming from a game down to level proceedings.

It ended 11-4, 9-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7 in favour of Egypt's ElShorbagy.

He will face compatriot Karim Abdel Gawad, who came out on top in an all-Egyptian semi-final against the younger ElShorbagy brother, Marwan.

Gawad won in four games, but with two of them decided via a tiebreak it was a tight encounter.

The final score was 11-4, 13-11, 6-11, 12-10, giving Gawad his first PSA Tour final berth for 10 months.

The Manchester Open is the first PSA Tour event to be held since the coronavirus pandemic took hold.

It is taking place behind closed doors, and the finals will be played tomorrow.
