The Indonesian Sambo Federation has held a workshop called "Performance Management Strategy Training for Sports Achievement".

The workshop was arranged in collaboration with the Indonesian Sports and Youth Minister, Imam Nahrawi.

Organisers say 50 participants are taking part in the event, which began on Tuesday (September 15) at Semarang in Central Java.

The workshop officially concludes tomorrow (September 18).

The participants include 19 provincial administrators.

Indonesian Sambo Federation President Krisna Bayu and secretary general Sukma Every Lisa are among the officials overseeing the workshop.

The duo said they hope to continue with similar activities during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, to continue the development of the sport in Indonesia.

Health and safety protocols have been put in place to ensure the workshop can be held with minimal risks.

Indonesia has currently seen a spike in coronavirus cases, which led to the country's capital Jakarta being placed back into quarantine earlier this week.

Sambo received a boost in July when it was proposed for inclusion at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi.

Organisers put forward sambo alongside esports, teqball, triathlon, modern pentathlon, bowling and jiu-jitsu for inclusion at the Games.
