daniel dias_21-11-11November 19 - Brazil's Daniel Dias continued his personal domination of the swimming at the Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, as he collected his eighth gold medal.

Dias smashed a Games record in the men's 100 metres freestyle S5 of 1min10:14sec to pick up what was his seventh gold, and then won the 50m butterfly S5 to reach an extraordinary eighth overall.

There was more home glory as Patricia Valle set a Games record of 2:08.36 in the women's 100m freestyle S3 to pick up her second gold.

Luis Andrade Guillen then claimed his third gold of the competition, whilst setting another Games record (1:04.28) in the men's 100m freestyle S8, before going on to win a further gold in the men's 100m butterfly S8 in record time of 1:08.22.

If that was not enough to thrill the home support, in the women's 100m freestyle S6 Doramitzi Gonzalez led home a clean sweep of the medals in a Games record time of 1:23:54, ahead of Vianney Trejo and Karina Domingo Bello.

Anna Johannes also claimed her fourth gold medal for the United States in the women's 100m backstroke S9, but her American compatriots dominated in the track and field, picking up seven gold medals.

Sabra Hawkes and Shaquille Vance won the women's 100m T37 and men's 100m T42, whilst David Prince won the men's 200m T44 and Raymond Martin claimed the men's 200m T52.

There was also an impressive performance from Luis Felipe Gutierrez, who won gold in both the men's long jump F13, with a world record 7.66m, before winning the men's 200m T13.

In the two powerlifting events of the day, Mexico cleaned up the gold medals, with Amalia Perez lifting 132.0kg in the women's 44kg-60kg, setting a Games record.

Silver went to Laura Cerero, who broke a Games record three times in the -60kg class, and in the men's 75kg-82.5k0g class Porfirio Arredondo lifted 193.0kg to win gold.

Brazil have all but guaranteed their place at the top of the medal table with 70 golds, 52 silver and 47 bronze, whilst Mexico are ahead of the USA in second on the silver medal count.

Both have 44 gold, but Mexico have 54 silver to the USA's 41.
