Lorenzo Perez_medal_ceremony_Parapans_November_2011November 18 - Five Games records were broken on another great day of action at the Scotiabank Aquatics Centre in Guadalajara where the 2011 Parapan American Games are taking place.


Lorenzo Perez of Cuba (pictured above centre) set an Americas record of 1min 09:42sec in the men's 100 metres freestyle S6, beating team mate Rafael Castillo (pictured above left) into second, before Doramitzi Gonzalez led a Mexican clean sweep in the women's 100m freestyle S6 to claim her second gold of the Games.

Colombia's Sandra Sarmiento won gold in the women's 100m freestyle S6, and the men's 200m individual medley SM8 witnessed another Games record being broken by Mexico's Luis Andrade Guillen in 2:38.86.

A further record time was smashed in the men's 50m freestyle S5 by Daniel Dias of Brazil in 32.80, who came ahead of compatriots Clodoaldo Silva and Francisco Avelino.

America's Haley Beranbaum won the women's 50m freestyle S5, but Brazil dominated the final races of the day.

In the men's 200m individual medley SM9 Matheus Silva clinched a gold, as did Joana Silva in the women's 50m freestyle S5, breaking a Games record in 39.42.

And in the 4x50m medley relay, Brazil swept home ahead of Argentina with room to spare, to keep them well out in front in the medal standings with 21 gold, 15 silver and 23 bronze.

Mexico are second with 15 gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze, whilst the USA are on six gold, seven silver and four bronze.
