The popular dance game Audition has been announced as a promoted title for the upcoming International Esports Federation (IESF) World Championship.

As a promoted title, Audition tournament competitors will battle for gold, silver and bronze medals.

First developed in 2004 by South Korea's T3 Entertainment, it has become a popular game since, especially in eastern Asia.

The game was released in China and Japan in 2005, gradually being introduced to other parts of Asia - including Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand - since, and is now known in North America and Europe as well.

Audition, which is centred on K-pop music, will be the only game developed in South Korea to be featured at the IESF World Championship.

It also contains fashion items and traditional costumes from around the world.

Players simulate dancing using a keyboard and control avatars that dance with or against other players.

The IESF has announced the Pro Evolution Soccer series, Tekken 7 and DOTA 2 will be official titles for this year's event.

Eilat in Israel will host the 12th Esports World Championship, marking the first time the nation will hold the competition.

The head of the Israeli Esports Association, Ido Brosh, thanked the IESF for allowing it to host this year's edition and revealed Israel will also stage the 2021 event, which he promises will be held "in a grander, even more luxurious manner", according to the Jerusalem Post.

Brosh also stated a hope that Israel could one day have funding to compete with world's leading esports nations.

"The South Korean and Swedish teams enjoy a salaried position as well as a nutrition specialist, a sports psychologist and a place to train at," Brosh commented.

"We hope to one day get the same things for the Israeli team."

Gamers who win a world title could win up to $150,000 (£113,000/£126,000), with around 100 competitors being expected to compete from December 6 to 12.
